Start building your future today: With Paul Evans
Wherever you are in your career path, there’s always a next step.
In this feature, we talk to Technical Recruitment Specialist Paul Evans, who talks a little around his area of expertise as well as how he can help – whatever your career goal.
Name: Paul Evans
What is your area of expertise?
I spent many years working as an IT Engineer before moving into recruitment this gave me a good background in helping to find the right candidate for the positions I’m looking to fill. I’ve been recruiting now for around 4 years across many different areas managing the full-cycle recruitment process whether it’s a Contract or Permanent position.
What sort of jobs do you specialise in working with?
I work with a multitude of roles including:
- Helpdesk Engineers
- Desktop Support Engineer
- Network Administrators
- System Administrators
- Software Developers
- Front End
- Back End
- Full Stack
- Business Analysts
- Data Analysts
- Security Engineers
- Infrastructure Engineers
- Solution Architects
- Network Architects
Are these roles common across multiple industries – which ones in particular?
These roles are common across every industry in the market, I work with a lot of pharmaceutical, financial and technology companies too.
What roles are in highest demand right now – why?
Software developers are definitely in high demand at the moment, whether it’s Full Stack, Front End or Back End. We’re finding it very difficult in Ireland where the pool for strong developers is very limited and this is very much an area where candidates have the luxury to pick and choose the right position for themselves.
What other, non-technical skills are you looking for?
Other non-technical requirements would be very good communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to work not only well in a team but remotely as well – especially in these times.
How do you engage with contractors, specifically to ensure they can move from project to project?
We always make sure that if any of our contractors are coming to the end of their current assignment that where possible, we will find them a new opportunity. And if that’s not possible we keep them in mind for any suitable positions in the future. If I’m talking to someone who’s thinking of going into contracting, I always make sure they have as much information about the process to help them. Especially if they’re used to working permanent roles only, I will be as honest and up front as possible to make sure they’re 100% happy before proceeding.
How can you help people who aren’t looking right now but might want to think about moving in the future?
Anyone can reach out to me If they’d like to discuss their future and I can give them an insight into the current market in their specific area, I’m more than happy to advise and help in any way possible and to keep someone in mind should something suitable come up.
